HSD Staff:
At the end of last week, our Tech Department was informed that the HSD's Google Workspace account was established, the time zone was set to that of Vancouver, BC - not Vancouver, WA. While this hasn't caused issues in the past, it will in the near future because British Columbia recently adopted year-around daylight-saving time.
What does this all mean?
It means that any existing calendar events for Nov 1 or after will become 1 hour off on that date.
Is there a fix?
There is a fix, but unfortunately it is at the individual user level. At this time, there is no way for the Tech Dept to make bulk changes to calendar events on behalf of users or for them to do bulk updates themselves.
So each user in hocksd.org and students.hocksd.org will need to check and change their Calendar settings to update the time zone. Here's a short video tutorial describing how to make the changes: Existing calendar entries with dates of November 1 or later will need to be edited to also change their embedded time zones.
The HSD's main time zone setting has already been changed to Los Angeles but that will only affect Google accounts created from today forward.
