Hockinson High School sophomore Hunter Davis recently completed a renovation of the Junior Varsity (JV) baseball dugout as part of his ASB class Passion Project.
Over the course of several weekends, Hunter worked alongside his family to complete the project, contributing more than 20 hours of work. Together, they pressure washed and cleaned the space, cleared overgrown brush, painted the back wall, removed an old table, and installed new bat racks and bag hooks to better organize equipment.
The improvements not only enhance the appearance of the space but also make it more functional for student-athletes throughout the season.
“I’m really appreciative of the time and effort Hunter and his family put into this project. The dugout looks amazing, and this will make a lasting impact on athletes for years to come," said Kathy Pacheco, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Hockinson High School.
Hunter first shared his idea through a presentation to school and athletic leadership, then followed through by organizing the work and seeing it to completion.
Projects like this highlight how students can take ownership of their school community while building real-world skills such as planning, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Thanks to Hunter’s effort, the JV baseball team now has a cleaner and more functional game-time space.
