HHS Band students stand together during the 2025 HHS Band Alumni Night.

The Hockinson High School Band turned the Dec. 19 home basketball game into a celebration of music, memories, and school spirit with its annual Band Alumni Night. This beloved tradition began about 15 years ago and continues to bring former HHS Band members back to campus to join current student musicians in the stands and perform together throughout the game.

Alumni arrived early for a quick rehearsal before joining the band for spirited pep tunes and fan favorite. Many returning musicians graduated within the last four years and were home from college, but it is not uncommon for Alumni Night to welcome graduates who now have children of their own to cheer the band on! "It truly feels like a family reunion," Band Director Corey McEnry said.

For today’s students, having graduates return to perform alongside them is a powerful reminder that the skills and relationships during their time in the HHS music program extend beyond graduation. “It’s something that stays with you," said McEnry. "Watching former students return, confident and successful, is one of the most meaningful parts of this job.”

Events like Alumni Night highlight how deeply rooted the HHS music program is in the school community and how it continues to connect generations through a shared experience in the arts.

The HHS Band, along with the HMS and 5th Grade Bands and the elementary music program, are supported by local levy dollars.
