Hockinson School District partners with Cascadia Tech Academy (CTA) to expand career and technical education options for Hockinson High School students. CTA is a tuition-free skill center for high school juniors and seniors that offers 20 high-demand career preparation programs. Many programs result in students earning college credit or industry certifications that are necessary to enter that field. Students have a split schedule, taking CTA courses in addition to their core academic classes at HHS.
CTA supports Hockinson’s focus on preparing students for lifelong success regardless of whether students plan to enter the workforce after graduation or pursue higher education. Students explore their career interests and develop marketable skills through hands-on training that aligns with industry expectations. Interest in CTA continues to grow at HHS. This school year, 46 HHS students are enrolled in CTA programs, and application numbers continue to rise.
Families interested in a CTA program should begin by completing the academy’s application form. Students must also submit a letter of interest to HHS College and Career Specialist Angelina Sarkinen by January 30. Most programs include transportation by shuttle bus between the HHS to the CTA campuses. Some programs are not held at the CTA campus and require families to arrange their own daily transportation. Satellite programs include the maritime, pre-electrical, teaching academy, forestry, and fire science courses.
We encourage families to explore CTA to expand student learning and open more options after graduation.
