Starlight Parade

The Hockinson High School Marching Band lit up downtown Portland on Saturday night, earning top honors at the Portland Rose Festival’s iconic Starlight Parade. This achievement marks a proud moment for the band, the school, and the Hockinson community.

The band delivered a high-energy, crowd-pleasing performance that stood out among dozens of entries. The parade was broadcast live on KPTV FOX 12 Oregon.

“We’re so proud of our students for the talent, dedication, and teamwork they brought to this performance. Winning the Sweepstakes Award is an exciting milestone for our program, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our amazing music booster parents and the strong foundation built by Jennifer Ritenburgh at the middle school. To our Class of 2025 seniors—what a fantastic way to finish your time in the band. This moment belongs to the entire Hockinson band community.”

The Starlight Parade is a marquee event of Portland’s Rose Festival to celebrate music, community, and creativity.

Hockinson’s music program and student transportation to events like the Starlight Parade are made possible thanks to voter-approved local EP&O levy funding. This support helps provide students with enriching experiences within and beyond the classroom.
