Summer Road Work Planned for Hockinson

Road work

We want to make sure HSD families are aware of two upcoming projects on 182nd Avenue that will impact Hockinson's roads in the final weeks of the school year and into the summer:

Project #1: Water Main Replacement Project (Clark Public Utilities)

Beginning Thursday, June 1 crews will begin installing a water main in between 159th St. to 144th St. There will be a single-lane road closure affecting the southbound lane during the following dates and times:

June 1 - June 20: 9 am - 7 pm

June 21 - Until completion in August: 7 am - 7 pm

At this time, the work is scheduled to be done primarily Mon-Fri, but could also take place on the weekends. This project will be coordinated with the Morgan Bridge strengthening project (see below).

Project #2: Morgan Bridge Strengthening Project (Clark County Public Works)

Beginning Tuesday, June 20 until completion in August, 182nd Ave. will be reduced to one lane, causing delays that could last up to 20 minutes.  Also, 182nd Ave. will be fully closed for up to 20 days. The county will update an electronic message board to provide residents with advance notice of these closures.

According to the county, construction crews will work on a Monday-Friday schedule. Hours are TBD.

Please note: This project will also affect 167th Ave. as early as June 5. Road work on 167th Ave. will result in single-lane closures. At this time, it is not expected that there will be a complete road closure.

More information on this project including a detour map can be found HERE. Scroll down to "Morgan Bridge #213" to view a detour map.

In closing...

It is almost a certainty that we will all be inconvenienced by these road projects. That's the bad news. The good news is that they will bring about some much-need infrastructure improvements in our area.

One final heads up: This summer, you can expect to see some single-lane closures on 164th St. near HHES as crews complete some bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements. Compared to the two projects above, this will be a small-scale project. As soon as we receive additional details, we will forward that information out to you.
