PWT, Volunteers Beautify HHES

Community volunteers celebrated Earth Day by sprucing up the HHES campus at an all-day work party on Saturday, April 23.

Wow. What a difference an Earth Day makes! For the second year in a row, the PWT and HSD carried on the Earth Day tradition started in 1970 by Clark County native Denis Hayes by teaming up to beautify the Hockinson community. This year the group focused its efforts on the HHES campus.

The clean-up event had two parts:

Part 1 - HHES Leadership students picked up garbage on HHES grounds on Friday, April 22 and

Part 2 - Volunteers and members of the Hockinson PWT, HSD, Hockinson Main Street Team, and Citizens for Hockinson Schools joined forces on Saturday to weed, plant, and spread bark dust across the campus.

Mission accomplished: The campus looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Check out this Before/After Photo Gallery.

This could not have happened without our volunteers and donors, including:

  • Rogue Conveyors
  • Heritage Safeway
  • Heritage Burgerville
  • Yard-n-Garden Land
  • Chapman’s Greenhouse and
  • Those who donated through the Earth Day Cheddar Up account!

Thank you, too, to Waste Connections and MacKay-Sposito, which both had environmental booths at the event.
