Join us at HHS Hawk Activity Hour this January

HHS students are encouraged to take a break from screens, grab a friend or sibling, and join their peers at the HHS track for an hour of COVID-friendly group and walking activities each Monday and Wednesday this month. HHS Hawk Activity Hours are hosted by HHS PE teachers and held at the HHS track.

“Physical activity is so beneficial for everyone’s mental health,” said HHS PE Teacher Beth Tugaw. “Research shows that just walking or getting up and moving for short periods of time will benefit them, helping their brains release endorphins and make them feel better overall.”

Hawk Activity Hours will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the month of January. PE teachers will be on-site to provide safe activities and ensure all safety protocols are followed. Depending on the number of students who participate, activities may include walking, light exercise, or group play/sports. Students of all athletic ability levels are encouraged to attend. No registration is necessary! High school students can simply show up at any of the planned sessions:

Depending on the level of interest from students in HHS Hawk Activity Hours, HSD may expand the program to include other buildings and grade levels.

This offering complements the "Walk and Talk" Wednesday program organized by Hockinson parents. The Walk and Talks are open to local middle and high school students and run from Noon-2 pm every Wednesday at the HHS Track.
